Health Service Journal

Just got a copy of Health Service Journal that I did an illustration for a couple of weeks ago and I am really pleased with it.
I do like working for public sector magazines because I find that they are more open to fresh ideas and less concerned with design trends such as mainstream fashion lead magazines. Its good doing creative work for a good cause as well.

Final Artwork for Nursing Standard

The final artwork approved - I have posted the first draft as well again to show the difference between them. Its always very interesting working with new clients to figure out their own creative restrictions in the magazine. You always have to remember in editorial that you are working for an art director and they are working for an editor with their own creative view.

Draft for Nursing Standard Magazine 2

Image required to be clearer and only to include northern Ireland with plain background and something to emphasize targets and no euro coins.

2nd Draft

Draft for Nursing Standard Magazine

I am working on some ideas for Nursing Standard Magazine about devolution and the health service.
Here is a series of drafts that I want to show so you can see how a job can change stage by stage.
I will post each draft and then the final artwork.

Health Service Journal Illustration

I have been sending out loads of work samples recently - trying to do marketing for 2 and a half days a week to keep the work rolling in. It paid off this week as I just finished a feature illustration job for The Health Service Journal about using blogs for your health. It was possibly the smoothest job I have ever done. Really nice to work with an art director that is straight forward and allows creative freedom. Thats one thing about illustration that takes years of practice - the ability to be adaptable and understand client needs - I'm still learning but it's getting better. It will be published on the 16th April.
